Manual welding
The Silmet workforce is based on over 40 expert and certified in-house welders capable of managing both tacking and welding phases, handling assemblies of all sizes from medium-sized to large structures weighing several tonnes.
These welders are always supported by supervisors and managers with technical know-how, capable of monitoring all the various production stages and keeping them under control at all times, with the aim of meeting production deadlines and ensuring product quality in line with customer requirements.
To ensure this quality, every component is positioned and tacked using specific equipment and jigs at every stage of assembly, even for the simplest sub-assemblies. This guarantees the dimensions specified in the drawings and avoids inefficiencies that would compromise production flow.
We use next-generation welding equipment and related machinery. In addition to holding specific certifications, such as ISO 3834, the company employs an internal welding coordinator and two operators qualified in non-destructive visual and magnetic particle testing. We also adhere to welding procedures WPS and WPQR welding procedures to ensure the highest standards across the entire welding department.

Robotic welding
Over the last decade, the company has invested heavily not only in its workforce but also in state-of-the-art machinery and equipment. The robotic welding department is a perfect example of this, with 12 cells of various sizes and specifications: gantry, track, single and dual-station K-type, and rotary-tilting.
These robots, each with their own specific features, allow us to weld both sub-assemblies and small to medium-sized parts, while the larger robots can handle a maximum welding length of up to 8 metres with a load capacity of 5 tonnes. This department has enabled us to handle much larger workloads over the years and manage significant peaks in demand, while thanks to our in-house programmers, we are able to guarantee high-quality welding in terms of both substance and aesthetics.
